Young People

If you are aged 14 to 19 and living in the NT, you can B Part of It NT in 2021-22, and receive a free meningococcal B vaccine.

The vaccine is safe and known to protect against meningococcal B, a rare but very serious disease. The vaccine is licenced and recommended in Australia.

The study will help us find out if the meningococcal B vaccine protects against gonorrhoea. We will also look at how the vaccine affects bugs at the back of the throat.

Many young people living in the NT will be able to take part through their schools if they are in year 10, 11 or 12. At the beginning of the school term, participating schools will be provided with information and registration forms for B Part of It NT and encouraged to share and discuss this with students in years 10 – 12 and their families.

If your teachers haven’t discussed this with you and you are interested in learning more or being involved just ask, or get in touch with us and we will answer your questions!

You can also join up through your health service or community clinic.

To B Part of It NT, you will need three visits: two throat swabs, two needles and two short surveys.

Young people who take part will receive a voucher at each visit as a thanks for their time.
